Word
Guess the five-letter word in six tries. One word a day, the same for everyone.
Countries come from World Bank Open Data, used under CC BY 4.0: surface area for 2022 and population for 2023, which is why each fact carries its own year. Solar System bodies come from NASA's planetary fact sheets and the elements from NIST, both US government work in the public domain.
All of it is estimates — rounded, revised as the sources update, modelled rather than counted for Afghanistan, Somalia and Libya, and in places already out of date. Figures whose honest value needs a caveat are left out rather than fudged: carbon has no melting point at one atmosphere, so carbon is not asked about.
Countries where two sources give equally defensible figures are left out of the pool, but some that remain still follow one convention over another: the area the World Bank reports for Pakistan excludes the disputed Jammu and Kashmir territory, where other sources include it. Reporting what one dataset says is not a claim about where a border belongs.
This is a puzzle game, not a reference work, so do not cite it. If a figure looks wrong, send a correction.
